Lyttelton, Ohinehou - Home to Many an Exciting Building Project! As we look towards an exciting time in the future when construction of Te Ūaka The Lyttelton Museum can commence, we also keep an eye on the past at other interesting construction projects. This photo shows the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club under construction. Can you imagine what a current Health and Safety person would make of these work practices?!
Wayne Nolan of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club (CYMBC) is researching the history of the club, which amalgamated with Banks Peninsula Cruising Club to form Naval Point Club in 2001. During Show Weekend, November 11-13, 2021, CYMBC will celebrate its Centenary and is aiming to produce a book about the Club and sailing in Lyttelton. If you have any historical information that might be relevant, Wayne would love to hear from you.
