Dr Malcolm Riddoch brings a unique blend of expertise to the committee, with a background spanning geosciences, archaeology, philosophy, digital media, and the sonic arts. He has a long association with the GLAMR (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums, Records) sector, with various roles in galleries and museums from the 1990s to his present work at Tūranga Christchurch City Library.
At Te Ūaka Lyttelton Museum, Malcolm currently serves as the Tangata Tiriti Editor and also provides System Support, having built the museum's online SaaS Productivity Suite. His broader experience includes roles as a gallery manager, university lecturer, freelance writer/editor, and digital media producer, bringing skills in content creation, exhibition support, and digital engagement.
Malcolm is particularly passionate about the museum's role in uncovering and sharing the diverse stories of Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour where he lives, embracing both historical research and contemporary perspectives, including through digital and creative approaches.
In his current role as Tangata Tiriti Editor, Malcolm focuses on ensuring the museum's narratives reflect the bicultural heritage of the region in collaboration with Te Hapū o Ngati Wheke.
