We’re asking the community to help us make our vision for a brave heritage building of the future possible. It’s our responsibility to carry forward the intent of the Museum’s founders and make sure the Museum has an even stronger place in Lyttelton's identity now and for future generations.
The new Museum will offer exciting and innovative exhibitions, programmes and events to encourage active participation in Lyttelton’s heritage. Help us to ensure that the experiences and lessons that have shaped us are not lost to the mists of time.
Intended as a shared facility, it will be a site of collaboration with like-minded community groups, artists, researchers and educations providers. Taonga will be safe, valued and shared with locals and visitors to learn from and enjoy.
Your contribution to rebuilding our community’s Museum is vital. We invite you to carefully consider how you may be able to support the realisation of this much-needed facility. Please join us in restoring Lyttelton’s heritage.

Thank you for your support!
Thank you for considering making a financial donation towards the Lyttelton Museum. As an NGO, we are reliant on the financial support from donors and funders to continue to safeguard and care for the Harbour area’s precious taonga, as well as share it with our community and visitors through public exhibitions. Every gift we receive is treasured and appreciated by the Society and our volunteers.
New Museum Campaign
Our big project is our fundraising campaign to raise $9.9M towards Te Ūaka, Lyttelton’s new Museum. Every donation we receive brings us closer to our goal of returning a brand new fit-for-purpose Museum back to the heart of Lyttelton.

A lasting legacy
Leaving a gift in your Will is just one of the many ways you can support Te Ūaka Lyttelton Museum. Every donation, whatever the size, will have a positive impact for years and generations to come.
These special gifts have enabled the Museum to manage and maintain our extensive collection of historically significant objects, and support the ongoing work of the Museum in a way we simply could not manage otherwise.
We are immensely grateful for every gift we receive, whether it is a specific sum or a small percentage of whatever is left once you have thought about those close to you. It is extremely helpful for us to know if you are considering, or have left, a gift in your Will to the Museum. This allows us to plan ahead and ensures we can acknowledge your generous support during your lifetime.
