Te Ūaka recognises Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke as Mana Whenua and Mana Moana for Te Whakaraupō / Lyttelton Harbour.
Kim brings experience of governance, strategy, advocacy, funding, community engagement, the arts and culture sector and oral history. A qualified lawyer, Kim has worked in social justice, community development and the arts – most recently as founder/director of arts and mental health charity Ōtautahi Creative Spaces.
Kim's passionate about Te Ūaka – with the partnership with Ngāti Wheke at its heart, the commitment to telling diverse stories of Whakaraupō and Ōhinehau, and focus on making sure everyone feels at home in our new museum. While momentum builds for the new building, Kim's keen to help keep Te Ūaka alive in the hearts and minds of the community.
Kim has lived in Lyttelton for 24 years, and loved seeing her sons grow up in this incredible community and landscape – the high hills, village and harbour.
