Te Ūaka recognises Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke as Mana Whenua and Mana Moana for Te Whakaraupō / Lyttelton Harbour.

Te Ūaka Stories encompass a collaborative storytelling approach inviting tangata whenua storytellers from Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke, and tangata tiriti storytellers local to Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour, to share their historical stories through a dual cultural lens. Our intention is to explore the possibilities of, and open a space for, historical storytelling that genuinely reflects the diversity of Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour's lands and peoples, for both mana whenua and tangata tiriti alike.
